Celebrations!

With great excitement we watched the parade of rugby players passing our school on their way from the haka at the cathedral steps to the Botanic Gardens where the first NZ game of rugby was re-enacted.

To celebrate International Day of Peace on 21 September we thought about what peace meant to us and made a pinwheel with pictures of our thoughts which we planted at the front of the school, along with Room 11.

On Thursday we held a Medieval Feast Day to celebrate all our learning in our Castle Connections inquiry unit.  Everyone took great effort in creating medieval costumes and bringing in some great food for the feast.  All the Kowhai children did a tour around the different classrooms in the syndicate to see how they had made their castles and dragons.  We did lots of spotting of different ways to connect materials.  The newspaper even came to take our picture and interview us!  Did you see the article in Saturday 24 September's Nelson Mail?
