Acquiring Knowledge

For a successful inquiry project it is best to follow a model of inquiry.  We are following Trevor Bond's SAUCE model:

S:  Set the scene
A:  Acquire knowledge
U:  Use knowledge
C:  Celebrate understanding
E:  Evaluate learning

Over the last two weeks we have been acquiring knowledge.  We have done this by sorting a categorising everyday materials according to type and properties.  This promoted a lot of discussion, particularly about the properties of materials, as well as the knowledge that glass is made from sand.




We continued exploring materials and acquiring knowledge of how materials can be connected.  Our mini project to do this was in the making of shields.  Take a look at the process we followed, working out how to connect materials to each other at each stage:
